2nd Saturday in December. Downtown Whitney stays open late this evening for the Christmas tree lighting, parade, and carolers. Sidewalks are filled with vendors all day long, displaying that perfect Christmas gift. Santa Claus makes a special appearance. Whitney’s annual lighted evening parade and Christmas tree lighting is held each year on the second Saturday of December. Carolers entertain the crowd, Santa Claus is on hand to visit with the children, and photographs are available. During the day, downtown sidewalks are filled with vendors displaying that perfect Christmas gift. Area restaurants setup booths to quench your thirst and satisfy your appetite. Hot chocolate, homemade candy, and other goodies entice visitors young and old. Booths and downtown businesses stay open late for shopping. The Whitney Fire Department and the Downtown Whitney Merchants Association co-sponsor this event.
